Bio: Aimee started racing in triathlons 4-years ago after her 1st grade teacher inspired many in her class to give the sport a try. Out of the gates, Aimee wasn't the fastest but said she didn't care because she loved swimming, riding her bike, and running and this was a way she could do all 3 sports at once. She's improved greatly over the years with swimming being her strongest segment.
Aimee races in 2 triathlons a year (Atlanta Kids Triathlon & IronKids Alpharetta) but swims year-round with the Chastain Park Tidal Waves team. Her favorite strokes are freestyle and breast stroke and she competes in at least one meet per month. She is planning to join her school's Cross Country team next year so she can work on her running endurance.
Last year, Aimee and some of her classmates started a "Learn to Tri" clinic to get more students at her school interested in the sport. In the first year, she had 10 kids sign up for the clinic and was able to form an unofficial school team at the Atlanta Kids Triathlon. They raised $400 from the clinic and donated all of it back to her school as part of a fundraiser.
Aimee is 11 years old and in the 5th grade at Heritage Preparatory School in Atlanta. Her favorite things to do when she's not swimming is hanging out with her friends, and playing with puppy Lulu, an Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix.
When Aimee races, Philippians 4:13 is what runs through her head - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
